As Brexit Bites, it's Clear Ignorance drives British Politics! Ignorance Drives Voters, and education is an afterthought [James Dupree]
Commentary
A newly released survey found just 35% of British people supporting Brexit, with 57% wanting to rejoin the European Union.
The nearly 60% of people who told the European Social Survey that they wanted Britain to be in the EU was far greater than the 48% who backed Remain in 2016.
All a bit bloody late! Ignorance continues to drive politics! Whether it is the acceptance of "alternative facts" or the acceptance of easily checkable politicians lies, the complacency of ignorance is something politics can always rely on from the public. Here in Australia, nobody much checked whether Abbott was a decent politician before they elected him, but everyone was surprised at how he turned out despite him acting very consistently. Turnbull was no different. Trump was utterly predictable, but they elected him anyhow. Boris was a button beforehand, and why is anyone surprised he stuffed up on Brexit? It was so obvious he was not up to the job. Brexit is now unravelling before the British public's eyes as Europe is taking their bat and ball and staying back over the ocean. No-one stopped to ask who owned the bat and ball? Who drove their supply trucks, who they did trade with and how much harder it would be to secure alternative trade partners? "But we didn't know", the British will protest. And you know what, that's true! How do we know? Google revealed the most extensive searches AFTER (not before) Brexit were things like "What does it mean to leave the EU?" followed by "What is the EU?", "What countries are in the EU?" and "What will happen once we've left the EU?".
As I said, Ignorance drives politics! Ignorance drives voters, and education is an afterthought. Well, Britain, (America and Australia), you have made your choices, so don't dare complain when your neck is deep in Sh..ellgr..it!
