War is A Racket: Robert Rich on Afghanistan Looters
Commentary
Private contractors are descending on Kabul, Afghanistan to aid the evacuation effort — while lining their own pockets, of course. Erik Prince, the notorious founder and former CEO of private security contractor Blackwater, is offering transportation to the Hamid Karzai International Airport and onto a chartered flight for a small fee of $6,500 each.
He’s leveraging an extra fee for those who want to be brought to the airport but are trapped in their homes.
Security contractors will never miss an opportunity to make a profit off of human suffering. The only winners in this 20-year war have been defense contractors and their wealthy executives, and even as it finally winds down they are still finding a way to make a buck. Make no mistake: war is a racket.
