British spy agency refuses to acknowledge its bases in Gulf dictatorship

An investigation by Phil Miller reveals that Britain’s largest intelligence agency, the GCHQ, has intelligence bases in Oman and is refusing to publish the details. GCHQ is believed to operate three surveillance sites in Oman. Declassified is publishing pictures of what appears to be a GCHQ site in Oman for the first time. The is site Codenamed CLARINET and on satellite imagery appears to be located near the border with Yemen. Photos taken reveal its ‘golf ball’, satellite dish, radio masts and unmarked entrance.
The GCHQ has refused to confirm whether its facilities in Oman have been used to help the Sultan spy on his domestic opponents. But it admits: “We share our own expertise and intelligence to better equip our international partners to combat threats in their regions.”
