The Mockery of A Political Trial of Julian #Assange

The mockery of a  "political trial"  of Julian Assange resumed yesterday. Prior to that #Assange was denied access to his own lawyers for 6 months

He was also denied access  to read the US government's indictment against him.  He is then dragged to court not even knowing what he is being charged with. We already know he is being regularly tortured. This is happening in a supposedly democratic country with a right to freedom of speech, expression, right to be heard and right to justice. 


Julian Assange's legal team is in possession of documents that show the US government considered kidnapping and  poisoning #Assange whilst they kept him a prisoner inside the embassy of Ecuador in London. 

An interview attached below which The Grayzone reveals beyond belief, the shocking, systematic abuse of political prisoner. Clearly #Assange is suffering in a UK prison under an unprecedented miscarriages of justice :
- persistent psychological torture
-denial of medical attention
-denial of access to his lawyers
-denial of family contact 
-denial of  protective equipment in the wake of Covid 19 risk. 

This exposes the appalling state of British jail conditions in a so-called 'developed' country. Human rights  seem to count for nothing.A 50-week sentence and counting for bail infringement landed #Assange in a maximum high security prison, imagine that. The Australian government says nothing, does nothing. Yet the headlines in Australia were castigating China the past couple of days for the arrest of Australian news anchor Cheng Lei who was arrested in Beijing on national security grounds last month. A diplomatic stand off ensued regarding two other Australian journalists, 
Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Bill Birtles and the Australian Financial Review's Mike Smith who were finally allowed to leave Hong Kong after behind questioned by Chinese authorities. The difference between these journalists and #Assange is In my opinion the type that toe line, kow tow to the ruling class, basically propaganda faces of mainstream media. #Assange is the rare breed of real investigative journalism, that speaks truth to power.

Zimbabwe must confront its culture of drink driving. Hopewell Chin’ono, a prominent journalist is still in prison for the crime of tweeting about corruption by Zimbabwe's elites, and people are celebrating the life of Gnimbi, a symbol of rot that has brought poverty and destroyed millions of lives of Zimbabweans.
